JD Martino
JD’s journey into personal training began in 2003, shortly after his mom passed away. His father, now widowed, desired to get back into shape and needed assistance in reaching his specific fitness goals. As a fitness enthusiast since the age of thirteen, JD embraced this opportunity of helping his father improve his health, fitness level, and self confidence by sharing his passion for exercise. He created a custom exercise program to gradually increase his dad’s fitness to attain his goals with a mix of cardio and resistance training with free weights. In addition, both father and son took salsa lessons together to have fun and meet new people, which also gave the benefit of extra exercise from dancing on the weekends. The results? JD’s dad lost over 50 pounds and found a salsa partner, who is now the new love of his life.
JD continued to train his father for many years after, but found himself in a predicament with his own training routine when he entered the corporate world in 2011 by accepting a job in New York City that required an hour and a half commute each way, plus business travel. With his time limited and continual access to a gym constrained, JD taught himself to use body resistance and skillfully adapt hotel rooms to maintain his own personal fitness goals. In addition, he learned how to condense each session for time efficiency, to ensure shorter workouts with maximum benefits.
In 2018, his time constraints lessened when he accepted a new job based in New Jersey and used his spare time to become certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a personal trainer. JD has always had the desire to share his passion of exercise with others, and now spends his evenings inspiring his clients to live active lifestyles through specially designed exercise programs he creates based on their goals, interests, and abilities. His goals for each and every one of his clients is to have an enjoyable exercise experience and ensure the long term benefits of increased energy and reduced stress, which he believes is the most important benefit of working out. In addition to his work, JD also tumbles around with his favorite four-legged friend Sugar Bear and salsa dances on the weekend for fun!
